No, you're first statement is not correct. History has demonstrated that the only way for a country to be respected by the US is to pose a real threat. Want examples? Iran, North Korea, Russia, China. The message is: "you have to a bully; hoodlums are the only ones I'm conversant with."
But if a country is weak or shows some concerns, then... the bombing of Afghanistan, Pakistan kept on a short leash, Iraq was destroyed, a CIA agent who was at the same time the dictator of Panama is in jail, Hussein (former CIA toy boy) is arrested, and so forth.
Be friendlly to the US... and pay the consequences.

While they are punishing the Muslim nations they are also weary of India... The Empire wants to maintain control and not gift it to her contenders... If India were a serious rival they would have eliminated it a long time back and they might attack us in future on some pretext too or for that matter Pakistan.

We need to have a thrid world consciousness the same way as the Latin America or Europe has for our longivity and get out of our petty squables with out immediate neighbours. Hundered years of colonialism should have taught us never to trust the Empire... I think that is the real way to become a world leader... Become leader of the oppressed. India certainly has the potential if Chavez has it in Latin America.

President Musharraf appears to be doing a lot to crackdown on the corruption. Unfortunately, there's only so much he can do.

The part about selling nuclear technology to Iran - you should check your facts. The action, if it can be proven with a 100% certainty, was not condoned by the government of Pakistan. There was a rogue scientist involved acting on his own accord.
