Depends on who you ask. Sheer number of lines of code in a business environment....COBOL, at least in the US.

Otherwise, with all the web pages, it's probably html. Technically, it's a programming language, but it's a limited use language.

As an old (very old) programmer type, I'm a bit of a purist on what I consider to be a programming language.

To be absolutely technical...the most widely used is object code or machine language or binary, since it's what the higher level languages are translated to internally
