Come on, you're just going on vacation, it's not the end of the world...

You will be fine. Bring a good book to read on the flight, and you won't even realize you are flying. (if you have ever ridden on a city bus or train, it feels the same except for the couple of seconds at take-off and landing, and that isn't bad) Drink plenty of fluids (not only in Florida, but also on the plane since the air is very dry) I usually take some hand & face lotion on the plane also. It helps.

The heat really isn't THAT bad. Wear light clothing, lots of sunscreen, and drink plenty of water. Find shade when you can, and rest if you feel tired.

As far as the homesickness goes, bring some money to send your family a postcard every couple of days. Jot down a quick note about what is happening. You can also keep a journal. Write in it at the end of the day. What did you do that day? How were you feeling? Would your mom & dad enjoy where you were? Get them a little souvenir, so they know you were thinking of them.

Most of all, have a lot of fun! There is so much to do and see in Orlando. Enjoy it!

The flight will be boring. Take along a book or two, so you have something to read. Check to see if you will be served a meal during the flight. Some airlines are no longer serving food, but you can bring along some kind of snack from home. (I like to bring a dry sandwich with some packets of condiments.)

I think you will find Orlando very interesting. It will be very humid and very hot (especially compared to Scotland), but whatever hotel you stay in will have a pool and air conditioning in the rooms. If your friend's family rents a car, it will also have air conditioning. If you travel by tour bus, THAT will have air conditioning! So don't worry about the heat. The only time you will be out in the heat is when you choose to be there. You will probably be wearing very lightweight clothing, shorts, etc. If you are going out to a restaurant or the theater, take a sweater with you because the air can be very cold in those places.

I don't think homesickness will be a problem: You are 14, and you'll have your best friend and her family all there with you. It's not like going away all summer to a camp where you don't know anyone. There is a lot to see at Disney, and there are other interesting things besides that. (I liked the Alligator Farm.)

There are two things that you will have to be very careful about: Mosquitoes and sunburn. You will need mosquito repellant (50% DEET) every time you will be out until dusk or later. You will need to put on sunblock (waterproof SPF15 or higher) EVERY day you will be outside. The Florida sun is very strong. You can get burned in less than one hour without sunblock. Don't forget you face, neck, ears, and any exposed skin anyplace. (I burnt the tops of my feet while wearing sandals!) Somebody in your group will get a painful sunburn that lasts for days. Make sure it isn't you! Even with the sunblock on, you will still get a tan. Don't spend more than a couple of minutes outside without sunblock, and don't try to tan by laying out in the sun.

Hah, you're going to orlando, you will have a blast. For the flight, bring a good book, one that will last you 10 hours, or stay up the entire night before and sleep on the plane (or both). For the heat, there's nothing you can do but dress for it and drink lots of water. Use sunscreen too, the sun in Florida is much stronger than in Europe. If you are fair skinned you will burn easily, sometimes as quickly as 20 minutes in direct midday sunlight. Force yourself to stay awake the first night until 10pm, you will get over jetlag faster that way.

You're going on holiday with your best friend, enjoy it!! And think about how jealous everyone at home will be.

First off, don't stress about it!!!!
Make sure you wear some comfy clothes for the filght, loose fitting layers coz of the air conditioning and you can take some off when you get there.
Take something to read, mp3, or whatever so if you don't want to watch the films you have something to do on the plane and at the airport. A bottle of water or juice is a good idea too.
As for the heat when you get there, same thing, drink lots and make sure you use sun screen, very high spf. There's nothing like sunburn to ruin a good holiday.
As for the home sickness, I reckon you'll be so busy you won't have much time to think about it. You can buy phone cards so you can call home if you want to, they're much cheaper than using your mobile. Don't forget you can text if you have a quad band phone but it's expensive.
Most of all, enjoy yourself, Orlando is a fantastic place, you'll have a great time.
Happy holidaze, take care.

Hi don't worry. I have been 10 times and love it.

The airlines usually have lots of different tv channels to watch so that will keep you busy on the plane.

The heat isn't too bad. The USA have great air conditioning.

I am sure you will enjoy the rides and meeting Mickey Mouse.

The main thing is to relax, enjoy yourself and have a great time. I know you will.

Flying is fun you become a bird and fly with the clowds. Trust people is good but make sure you know them first and take a teddy or photos of home to keep your self happy but i guess you will be to busy to worry. Have a nice time.

Use an mp3 player to drown out the plane noise. You'll have a great time in Florida.
