I'm living in a foreign country now and there are lots of places in the country I want to visit, only I can't find any sites in English that give directions on how to get to these places. Any ideas?

I should have been more specific: Finding road maps is easy; what I have trouble with is finding maps with subway and/or train stations on them as well.

Here's are 2 interactive maps of Japan, so you can search where you want to go.

Here's the link to the Japanese National Tourist Office. The first thing I'd do is go there and ask them for help

Here's their address
The Tourist Information Center (TIC) of Japan National Tourist Organization is your helping hand while in Japan. Its services range from providing travel information and free literature on Japan to offering suggestions on tour itineraries. Reservations, however, are not handled there.

Well be a boyscout or girlscout , always be prepared in that case, you need to have a jap-english dictionary, map or perhaps find a long hair japenese walking dictionary or short hair japanese walking dictionary. Living in a foreign country first you need to do is to learn the basics in order to survive. Learn the numbers( in order to buy something), learn giving the direction( turn left or turn right go straight), and of course you'll learn to ask the basic questions in japanese dialect. Tis not so hard i guess, so begin now... ok turn to page one... how to say Hello in japanese language... Have fun!

what country are you in?
in the uk you can use the route planner on www.rac.co.uk
there is also www.multimap.com which has maps for most of the globe though not all of the globe yet.
have you tried the local tourist information centres for the place where you are?
