Hahaha. That's funny, cause I'm with you. I could SO see that happening. (And for you all who are a little slow on the wit, I think he means that Bin Laden is possibly ALREADY found... but will miraculously be "caught" before the November elections.)

But... even if it does happen, I really don't think it would change many people's minds. Most people are over Bin Laden. The war has become about so much more than Bin Laden.

You say, "When." You must be pretty sure. Pundits said the same thing would happen before the Presidential Election in 2004, and it didn't.

Actually, if ( a REALLY BIG WORD -- "IF") bin Laden is caught this year, it could be a boon or a disaster for the Republicans. Politics is all about timing. If he's caught in the next couple of weeks, it could give the Republicans a boost. But if he's caught in Late October, there's a serious possibility of voter backlash, and people saying this was planned.

But you know what I really think? I really think most people have moved on, and more or less wised up. I really don't know anyone who thinks that capturing or not capturing bin Laden is going to mean much in the war on terror. Everyone's pretty much accepted the idea that no matter what, bin Laden is currently bottled up in Pakistan and isn't much more than a symbolic presence anyhow. Al Qaeda is going to do what it does regardless of bin Laden. I'd argue that that is the current assessment, and it strikes me as fairly valid. So if you think about it, he's kind of irrelevant nowadays. I don't think there'll be a capture anytime soon. He's no longer a priority.

They're not ever going to find him. Bin Laden and his supporters would never surrender to America. He'll be dead before we ever find him. We'll just continue to terrorize his homeland and the rest of the Middle East until then.
