So- case study-

13year old with Aspergers who is very poor at maths (but good on the 'normal' autism strengths such as computers and other systems), which suggest to me a separate deficit for maths...

Anyone know of any links between autism and dyscalculia? It seems odd as usually (but obv not always) people with Asperger's are brilliant at maths...

Thanks!

These answers are so wrong on so many levels. Asperger's children happen to excel in a area or more than one area but it's not always math. My son who is 14 has Asperger's as well as ADHD, anxiety, Dyslexia and Dyscalculia. He does very well with science and computer related subjects but is very low in Math skills and reading skills. No Asperger's child is the same. Asperger's is known for having a coexisting condition.

People with Asperger's and autism have trouble with social situations and interacting, but usually are brilliant in math and other logical systems. It is strange that he is not good at math.

Don't know of any links. Most likely he will just need extra help in this subject like the others he is behind in.
