Shaving doesn't cause your hair to grow in thicker or darker, or any different than it was before. That said, I don't shave or wax. I use a depilatory that's made for sensitive skin. Check out products that are made for black men to use on their faces.

It's better to wax anywhere. Waxing makes the hairs take weeks to grow back and they'll be thin. Shaving causes your hair to grow soon and the hair to grow thick. It's not as good as waxing.

Id say wax though,
and go to a place to get it done they know,
If uncomfortable,
Get directions...

Wax is smoother. And brazilian... you will want to get a professional to do it. It doubt you could do it yourself.... safely.
