sexuality doesn't matter for leadership.nor genre.
being that way, it really doesnt matter if he is a christian or atheist, since he/she knows how to separate fields and promote pluralism. There are several christian politicians in Europe who support gay marriage, etc, fair laws to immigrants, freedom of religion.
if i had to blindly choose without knowing the person, asin this case, a gay atheist gives me much more guarantees of being a fair leader.
but that's as far as i would go in this kind of argument.

Straight Christian. Since a majority of the Presidents have been straight Christians, to our knowledge. a gay atheist would want to allow too many things that this country isn't ready for. Such as Gay marriage and Gay adoption. In an election we all know he would lose. Homosexuality and atheism is very much a minority in this country. We are mostly Heterosexual/Christians. So if you are to have a leader that makes decisions based on what the country as a whole wants it would have to be a Straight Christian.

I would take a gay ateist over a straight crhistian any day of the week, and it has nothing to do with my own orientation. It has to do with the simple fact that the ateist would make decisions based on the law and legal precedents, as opposed to the current moron who tries to shove his religious mores down everyone's throat by using them for legal decisions. We live in a country that is supposed to have seperation of church and state, but for the last term and a half, the president has doenthe exact opposite. People need to grow up and really read the constiution. If we are not careful, we will have no freedoms left. Remember, People should not be afraid of their government, the government should be afraid of it's people and ours seems to be forgetting that.

I think a gay atheist would be a fine idea for correct what inequalities exist between the gay communities and society, and other religions and Christians. Face it, we live in a heterosexual, Christian country, and frankly that's a bad thing.

Either or neither. A true Humanist or a true Christian would speak about love for fellow man/woman and neither would judge another person for their orientation or belief system.

Chances are though the only one's who would seek nomination for Leader of Society would lean towards a more fundamentalist view.

I dont think that religion and politics should mix to be honest, it causes too many difficulties. Whether our leader is straight or gay, it does not matter. What does matter is how this leader acts, whether they stand up for their country and do what is right for that society.

what about straight atheists (I know more of those than gay atheists) or gay Christians? What about Wiccans -- gay or straight? What about Jewish persons? What about Hindus? What about secularists who are not atheists?

There shall be no establishment of religion and there shall be no religious test for public office.

Get over it.

Neither. A gay Christian man would be better.

Nither. A Christian bisexual woman would be a better leader in the future or now, or a Wiccan, they rock.
