For: The arguments against it are purely of a purely religious nature.
Since America has a "Seperation of church and state" It does not make sense to outlaw it.
Gay marriage may seem digusting to you. But be assured that you disgust plenty of people. It's how america works. You can disgust people, you just can't physically hurt them.
Essentially, thats all there is to it. All other arguments against it are religious in their basis and as such they are not valid for law making in the united states of america.

The simple fact that most straight people have no idea as to why people of the same sex are attracted to one another. I don't know what that feels like so I how can I be the judge? Heterosexuals as far as I can see don't have any reason to brag about how well they treat the institution of marriage they divorce, they fight, they beat their children and their spouse. Not all of them do these things so why do we think gays won't do the same. I don't think there is any difference good or bad. I could care less if my neighbor is sleeping with a man or a woman. I really think the people that fear gays the most are homophobic and hate the people who are openly gay because they shear the same attraction. They do and fear the hate that society shows to people that are different. I think the hate is a learned behavior passed down because of ignorant religious fanatics. Being a Catholic this boggles my mind because I can't see why they persecute gays yet don't allow priests or nuns to get married. For the people who think priests or nuns don't enjoy sex you are very, very naive. Love is god, god is love. What's the problem?

First, same sex marriage is not expressly prohibited by the chrisitian church. In fact, there are many probable homosexuals in the bible: David and Nathan, Ruth and Naomi are few examples. In addition, Gays now are much more free than they used to be. There are gay and lesbian revolutions worldwide. Plus, Psychology doesn't anymore consider homosexuality as abnormal.
Second, same sex marriage is a violation of human rights. There is the right of expression and not be discriminated from the rest of the world.
Third, we don't need to be afraid of having so many gays and lesbians in the world. There are only 2% of them.
So, Choose FOR Same sex marriage.

I am not for same sex marriage. I cannot see two men or two women married to each other. It is unnatural. I see two men or women kissing or TV and I just don't get it. It looks gross to me. I believe in the Bible, so that is my reason for not being for same sex marriage. There is a bond between a man and woman that cannot be duplicated by partners of the same sex. I know the same sex marriage couples have their rights, but I don't approve and that is just my opinion.

Same sex marriage like regular marriage is about connections. Making a connection with someone and devoting your life to them.
The ceremonies are religious in nature, and since most religions are against same sex marriage, an alternative is needed. Civil unions are in essence legal marriage without religious ceremony.
I support civil unions. Choice is apart of the human experience, how we want to live, and how we want to be, and who we want to be with. Making connections with people is difficult, and finding someone to share your life with is a connection we should respect.
You don't have to agree. It is your right to disagree. I think this is something we should tolerate, not accept.

I am straight, but am a supporter of same sex marriage, because I don't see anything wrong with it. This is a free country, whereby everyone should be treated fairly, regardless of their sexual preference.

Love is not prejudice. If you love someone you should be able to marry them, and receive the same benefits that heterosexual couples get. There should be no discrimination towards same sex people. If you love someone, their sex should not be an issue.

Marriage is work, it's difficult, isn't one of the advantages of being gay, that you don't have to get married ?????????
I don't dislike gay people, I just don't want to know about their fun

Marriage is a legal institution, and it is not right to deny someone legal rights based on something they can't change.
