Because if anyone found out he's the father he could go to jail. so should she have an abortion?

Well... she doesn't have to tell any authorities who the father is. But, if her parents know about this man and their daughter, pregnancy might very well be enough to report him, and in my experience that DOES get the guy in jail for a couple years.
However - that's a potential new life in there! Having and keeping a baby is huge, life-changing... so, unless the parents start making ultimatums about abortion or going to the courts, I'd say it'd be good to make the decision based on the baby - if she wants the baby or no.

First since she is 17 not a child and pregnant no state will jail a father willing to do what needs to be done to raise the baby. Breaking up the family and taking away the financial support is not a smart move. Also 17yr olds may consent for the most part in every state and very few states get involved when someone is 17.

Will you be 18 by the time the baby comes? Does the older gentleman want you to keep the baby? If you are ready for the responsibility without or with the father keep it. Otherwise there are alot of families that will gladly adopt, and God Bless you if you give that blessing to a women (family) who cannot have children; I know from experience abortion is a lifetime of emotional baggage; you're young you can probably do it again in a good loving relationship later in life. Abortion is never the answer. Think about all of the people in the world who would love to have a baby, but can't. If you don't want the baby, give it up for adoption. Don't tell who the father is. He can't go to jail if no one knows who he is.

Have a talk to the man and hear what he says,
If he suggest abortion than tell him off and report it. A man who don't dare to take responsiblity is worthless. He should have know that this will happen the day he do it with you without protection. At the same time, are you ready to be a mother? That I guess is the most important question of all.

If she be 17, there be no way he can go to jail in US or other related countries due to the pregnancy itself. DA usually won't charge someone with stat rape if close to legal age aka: 17. Especially if she files emancipation before charges are filed. Also depends on the state's legal age of con-cent. www.ageofconcent.com I believe it is.
If she decides to keep the baby, he needs to know.
If she decides to abort, she need to do so. In some states and some countries, parental permission needs to be given.

oh my god, dont get an abortion just because the man can go to jail. In fact, i dont think he can go to jail unless your parents press charges, and if they do , i think all you have to do is say you were willing, at least it works in alabama, that happend to my friend, when she was 15 she got pregnant by a 19 year old. dont have an abortion unless YOU want it. its your baby, your choice.

ok look it is like this you may get mad at me for what i am going to say but don't care.. why in the hell would you even think of doing that to a baby that is one thing that god gives you and it will be the greatest thing you will ever get in life. you were the one that had sex with him you knew how old he was when you did it. if you did not want to have baby then why did you not use something. if you don't want the baby why not give the baby to someone that can and will take care of him or her .. but whatever you do plz.. don't kill the baby . that baby has not done anything to you or anyone and you want to kill it that is not even right you need to think again what if your mom would have killed you and never give you life .. think about it like that

Don't even think about taking the life of that poor baby, he's a person too, if you don't want him, give him to adoption, but I suggest that you keep him. He needs his mother, he (or her) will look like his mother, have some characteristics like his mother, if you send your own child away or worse, if you kill him, than you do not diserve to live either.
