i think it depends on the particular person. You are stereotyping the chinese community. Mind you that 1 out of 4 ppl in this world are chinese. I dunno if its hard for us to communicate with them or them communicating with us. BUt that is another point. The point that i wanna make is that.. there are chinese all around the world.. and there are different types of chinese with different type of mentality and i suppose in this case.. a different type of command in english. Perhaps.. you must have stereotyped most that comes directly from mainland china with quite a bit of difficulty in understanding what u say and u the same. I believe in toleration. Perhaps if you could understand their culture a lil bit more and understand where they come from and that they are struggling to speak a foreign language to understand you. Would you willing to do the same?

Not only Chinese people are hard to communicate to - all people are. It is this lack of being able to communicate to one another that we have arguments, and wars.

hmm..firstly i like to know what is ur meaning of hard to communicate?hard to start a conversation or hard to talk into deep details?personally, ple are all the same regardless of race..thats the advantages of living in spore giving you the encounters with ple of all races....wats realli different is their personalties which u may also link to the way they are brought up..chinese ple i dun think they are in any way difference to malays or indians...to communicate effectively, both parties have to be proactive and willing to talk to each other.if you are saying chinese are hard to start a talk with,i think reasons maybe are that they do not know how talk english or malay/indian for those elderly and so cant really blame them for not talking as they do not have the lang ability to express themselves. As for those young ple who know how to talk english,i am sure they might be too shy..some ple are just too shy to talk to other ple due to their own personality and i believe this also applies to other people besides chinese. So to solve your problem,y dun u be proaactive and strike a conversation first? You will never know what interesting response you can get from others...and from there develop your friendships!!!
