There is so much great music from the 60's crucial to the backdrop of the show, its been pain in the rear end to obtain/purchase the licensing needed to sell the DVD's.

Its one thing to obtain the licenses needed to acquire the music for the Wonder Years when it was being broadcasted, or in week day "strip" syndication.... the recording artist(s) get paid for their performance on the show as it is/was broadcasted in accordance to the agreements with ASCAP and the Other Hollywood Unions.

Its something ENTIRELY different to obtain those same music licenses to sell episodes on DVD. Why? Because you will OWN the DVD.... and well, the record companies AND artist(s) will want their cuts of the profits from the sale of the DVDs.

So now you have another group of players who want a share of the pie, and in some cases.... its a LOT !!!!

Case in point, Michael Jackson.... who owns the Beatles Catalog.
The reason why "The Prisoner" DVDs were so expensive for only 17 episodes is because The Beatles "All You Need Is Love" is in the last episode, crucial to the last episode, and he wanted a FORTURE for the rights to the song.

This is why a lot of your favorite shows are more expensive than others. Wiseguy is another example.... and why the last episode of the Steelgrave Arc had to have a music change. The Moody Blues wanted too much money for "Nights In White Satin". Its also why you will probably NEVER see the "Dead Dog" Record Label Cases on DVD, because to secure the licenses for all that music wouldnt be cost productive for the amount of DVDs they'd sell.
