it refers to something that is or has been stolen. it also is a dance that is done when a girl makes herself go down to the floor then works her way back up again. the term though is old and was used back in 1999 by the cash money millionaires in the song *back that thing up*.

it means different things for each situation:
"when the pigs try to get at you, drop it like it hot": meaning when the cops try to get ya, drop your dope or whatever u got like its hot
"when a sucka gets an atiitude drop it like its hot": meaning when a dude gets an attitude, show him what s up.
etc....etc....it applies to what hes saying.
normally drop it like its hot means a girl dropping to the floor a way of sexy dancing. but his is applying to what hes sayin.
