Well I definitely prefer football(soccer) because that is what I've been exposed to growing up in the caribbean.Cricket is big here and I always thought it was boring but once I began to understand the game I fell in love with it. I love the skill that players utilise and also the passion that players have for it and also the fans' passion. I've watched a few games of American football but I don't understand anything about it so I can't really say that it sucks but I will say that I don't like that it's called football when the foot is hardly used. Also I get annoyed when people confuse real football with American football especially in this categoru which clearly says football(soccer)-2006 fifa world cup!

For me, soccer (association football) is better than american football. You dont need our word - my or any other people who are answering this question - just look at the world. American football is only popular in North America & parts of Europe. Soccer is popular in every corner of the globe and over 200 countries play it. In my opinion, American Football has no flow to the game, with frequent stops when a guy is hurled down, while soccer is much much more fluid. Thus football is better than american football

I went to see the NFL play in my home town when it toured here a couple of years ago. The guys are huge the tackles are outstanding but and you knew there would be a but , Its such a stop and start affair offense on defense off special units for this and that , one guy ran the ball 25 yards and then left the Field to take on oxygen from a face mask . neither game is gay they are just different. If your into sports you can appreciate the complexity of NFL. I think the Americans out there are seeing soccer at its worst some times though, all the diving that s become part of the game is really killing it .(if they dive and its so obvious send them off for five minutes it ll improve the play and the spectacle

I prefer soccer (football, futbol, calcio) because of its universality-everyone everywhere can play it. The game involves strategy, stamina, techniques, and good mentality. Whether you are big or little, tall or short, black or white, you can play it as well. The most important thing is your ability.
Moreover, through football (soccer) we can make friends and peace. Look what Francesco Totti did when an Italian reporter kidnapped by terrorist, or what Gianluca Zambrotta and Fabio Cannavaro did for Gianluca Pessotto
I don't know much about American football, but it seems like a barbarian game. Besides, why should you play football using your hands rather than your feet?

Hi,
You know for me it's our football (soccer). I have watched American Football for quite a few years when it made an appearance in Australia many moons ago. My brother actually played it out here, though I used to go and watch him, it was just too different to what I have grown up accustomed to. Though I understand it, it's all a bit stop and start for me personally. Too much run on run off. I like constant play. But I can understand why it would appeal to other people. It's really just a cultural thing, what you are brought up playing and watching. We have our Rugby Union and Rugby League as well as Aussie Rules here in Oz and I love them all as well as football (soccer). But American football is really not my cup of tea.

1) football (the FIFA version) is played by half the world.
2) American FOOTball is not played with the FOOT.
3)I've played the FiFa version since i could walk, and my opinion is that football is a game of individual skill with the ball1st, and balance, strength and speed 2nd, wheras the NFL is a game of Strength and Speed 1st and skill is left to the coach...
