The state is in charge of that, dept. of health, also the clean water act (FEDERAL) can protect you. The water co. is not self- governed, the state randomly takes samples for testing, BY LAW, these test results must be made available to the public, your water co. MUST provide you with a copy of the results, and what was tested for !

take a sample too your local environmental offices, and they will for a small fee, tell yu exactly whats in the water, but don't say where its from, as they could be getting back handers..
and dont give your real address...
