Because the only thing more difficult then keeping yourself happy in life is keeping yourself happy while keeping some one else happy.
Typically we think that a woman and a man come together to form a union and make one better whole person. But with the way things are today, the differences between a man and a woman in society are becoming less and less. Women don't need a man as much as they used to, and men don't need a steady woman as much as they used to. I think this is also the reason for the rise in the gay trend.

Relationships are difficult because you can only control your half of the relationship...and even that is questionable depending on the relationship itself. In general, I think relationships have a lot to do with balance...a balance that is always changing, and that's okay. It's just an art form and hard to get used to.

A good marriage, for example, always requires some effort and work.

Because men and women are so, so different. Compromise is a hard balance to keep.

All relationships, even the non-romantic ones, require attention and work. The romantic pairings can't succeed without both people wanting them to and putting the effort into it- and sometimes, they still don't work. It's a gamble, but I think well worth it.

Anything worth having, is worth working hard for. Relationships need constant attention or they tend to strain, causing one or both parties to feel neglected...the fact is that renewal of attention can be hard when feelings are hurt. Relationships need nurturing or they die.

Because while the relationship is between two, you want it your way and the wants it his/her way.

It will work only if both think the way for the two or all involved.
