As a rule, selfishness and self serving go hand and hand; this is a way to charge forward and own a certain space. Just because you are willing to share information; there is never a real need to share the inner workings of the information. This is a way of owning your own space and never allowing anyone to enter. On the outside, there is an aura of a nice sharing and caring person. But, deep within the subconscious mind is the selfishness all of us are wrapped up in, as tight as Dick's hat band.

i think everybody to a certain extent is selfish. people who are truly selfless are rare, and generally pretty unhappy. i think you have to be selfish sometimes, but some are more so than others. i like to think i am genuinely interested and listen and help with my friends/families problems, not just cos i should. i think only ever thinking about yourself would be boring and eventually lead to madness.

Well who else would they be selfish for?
If someone else, then it wouldn't be being selfish. Now would it?
