I would recommend some short stories by Kafka, his German is fairly simple, without the stories themselves being simplistic. Also plays by Durrenmatt, like Der Besuch der Alten
Dame, or Die Physiker. Plays are good because they feature a lot of regular conversation which will probably be easy for you to understand.

relies upon on how solid your German is & what sort of books you like somewhat If I have been you, i could get a German replica of a e book which you have have been given already study in English - you will comprehend it alot less complicated then. the 1st e book I study in German replaced into "Nicht Ohne Meine Tochter" (no longer without My Daughter) by utilising Betty Mahmoody. that's a real tale approximately an American lady who marries an Iranian. they have a daughter & some years later, he tricks her into going to Iran & refuses to enable her circulate back to the states. the tale is approximately how she flees Iran. it somewhat is truthfully spectacular & there's a action picture too (in spite of the undeniable fact that i presumed the action picture replaced into unfavourable in assessment to the e book).
