I'd take the stinky dog, bathe it, brush it's fur, and take it for a run every day, to keep us both in shape. Let's see a finicky cat do all those things!

Kitty. They don't stink up the house. They are cleaner. You don't have to take them for walks on 100 degree or 5 degree days. They like attention but not 24 hours a day. It's easier to scoop the litter box than carry poo around with you in a bag. They don't bark at everything. And most importantly, I can't resist happy kitty purr sound.

Well I love dogs so I will choose the stinky dog and have the vets office give him a hair cut, shampoo and a dip.

Cats actually cause much more destruction than dogs do, at least well trained dogs (it doesn't matter how much you try to train a cat).
Cat smells are much harder to remove (if not impossible) than any dog smells, and dogs don't have to smell if they are taken care of properly.
Dogs don't necessarily bark at everything (especially if they are trained properly), but it is great when they do warn you about things they need to warn you about.
Boost a guy's ego???? Get shallow girls?????? HUH???
Dogs are THE most loving pets a human being can have.
Cats love you when and if they want to, dogs love you all the time.
Cats train their humans to do what they want them to do, dogs are trained to do what their humans want them to do.
Cats bring in pieces of mice and bugs into your home. Dogs protect your home in everyway they possibly can.
Cats have even been known to bring in diseases that are not good for pregnant woman and babies (and even smother babies)...Dogs will do everything they can to protect their pregnant humans and the babies in their care.
I would take a dog any day...even if the dog is stinky and untrained, because I can clean it and train it and it will love me forever.
There is a reason why they say that dogs are our best friends, they truly are!!!!!!
But please do not get ANY pet if you are not willing to be responsible for it for the rest of its life. THIS IS RULE NUMBER ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My dogs were never stinky. If dogs are kept clean and groomed they have no smell. except the paws smell like popcorn. Which is just fine. I used to tell my little Caesar that he had popcorn toes.

I would go with the dog, because they are always willing to do what you want to do, whereas cats are more independent. Cats are adorable too, though! =)

Right now I would chose a pet kitty, they are easier to take care of and they are cuddly.
