Definitely not. But silver spoons can be acquired.

A tradition in many western cultures for a baby shower was a baby spoon or rattle made of silver or silver plated. It is a silly political term that has come to mean being privileged and rich; however, it just doesn't hold water (or much anyway!). So yes, I was born into a lower-middle income family but did have a silver spoon.

I'm not afraid to say I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth, but it's actually really insulting when people say that. So my grandparents like spoiling me, but after going through some hard times, I've come to appreciate the value of money. People think I'm still some spoiled brat who stores oxygen in my brain. But that's not true, and I understand how much bitterness my parents had to go through in their destitute childhoods, and how hard my dad had to work to get where he is now. My parents raised me like their parents raised them, and I grew up with a list of chores around the house and rules to follow. I admit I may get an occasional shopping streak, but other than that, all my electronics and expensive objects are rewards for my achievements, academically, socially, and athletically. I actually know, and dislike, a lot of people who were probably born with platinum spoons in their mouths, and flaunt it. Family income shouldn't be how social class is divided, and I wish people can understand that no matter how much their parents make, their values and integrity will be the true keys to success. It takes years of work to become a millionaire, but it takes just one generation of spoiled kids who lack the ability to handle money well to reduce them all to paupers.

Yes I did, but that was an idiomatic expression. I had gold spoon actually and even grow up a spoiled brat. So what makes the difference,,, silver or gold, iron or bronze, whatever, what is important is how you make it when you grow up...
