The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.

I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.

Associations may be a good avenue to explore. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* The Advertising Agency Business: The Complete Manual for Management & Operation by Eugene J. Hameroff
* The Advertising Business: Operations, Creativity, Media Planning, Integrated Communications by John Philip Jones
* How to Start and Run Your Own Advertising Agency by Allan Krieff

There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

There are many blogs of people who put up and discuss advertisements. Go through them for ideas, and make friends with them. You can get a job at the big firms like Ogilvy and Mather, JC decaux or Satchi and Satchi.

You can also start by copywriting this will help you get into the market as someone who is in the advertising field. Contact me and ill pass you some blogs to look at for ideas.

It depends on the market in your city and country. I'm working for an outdoor advertising company, they rent the place from Major House, create the billboard according to the client's expectations (for this we intermediate with another company, I mean the creation part) and we post the billboard on the road corners's rent by us, on buildings etc. It brings a lot of money, and it's a hard work, too...Before I was working for another advertising company, dealing with advertising in catalogues, the costs are cheaper, but same is the profit. For this catalogue thing, you have to have a very professional team cause nobody trusts beginners, so they should be persuasive and have very developped communication and public relation skills as well as intermediating with clients. Never hire amateurs in such a job, cause it's a loss of money.
