You have a few symbols there, not sure which you refer to:

Colon (:) is used at the end of a sentence to indicate a list is about to follow, or that an expansion of a point is to follow.

Dash ( - ) features a single space at either side and is used to indicate a pause in sense or topic.

Hyphen (-) looks like a dash but does not feature any space at the side. This is used to join 2 words together, ie Smith-Jonson.

Question mark (?) indicates a statement is a question.

Hope that helps you

It appears to be a colon, a dash, and a question mark. Also can be the keys you type to make the confused face on Yahoo IM and CHAT I believe.

Does look like an old man from the side. Then again, it's a colon, hyphen and question mark.

It is called a "Question Mark" in British English.

This is a question mark. At the end of a statement it changes it into a query.
