the answer has been given 4 to 6 inch hardcore then 4 to 6 inch concrete with steel reinforcing mesh if drainage is required then lay everything before the concrete no expansion joints required

(I found the answer about digging till you hit bedrock funny how heavy is this horse to go that deep)

For that size , an expansion is not necessary, you will need a good hardcore base of about 4 inches, and 4 inches of concrete

When I built stables for my Ex i laid out railway sleepers to the dimension of the stable so that the walls would be mid way on the sleeper... got them all nice and level then filled the centre with concrete... no expansion joint or anything..... worked OK

how heavy is the horse?......

are putting drainage in?

suitable hardcore to a depth of at least six inches with the raft about four inches
drainage in the centre with a slight gradient on each raft sloping toward the drain, if you lay two six foot rafts use a rubber expansion strip over the line of the drain channel. good luck.LF

use 25 newton concrete and you will need to put a dpm in at base level when you hit bed rock. Use steel reinforcing mesh and put one 15mm expasion joint and fill with a suitable mastic
