I find bars of any kind are overrated. I really would rather meet a guy in a coffee shop.

I find the gay bars to always be a lot of the same thing. When I go out, I want to have a good time. I want to relax. I mostly enjoy pubs and bars wherein you're able to sit down, enjoy a nice drink, and have a conversation. There are other times when I want to go out and dance. When it is the latter, I go to the gay bars. However, the former is not conducive to such an activity.

I also don't enjoy getting stared at by creepy, old men.

In Vancouver, Canada, many younger gay guys avoid the gay bars because they are boring, the music sucks, and the scene is way too predictable. Also, some so-called gay bars have way too many (straight) women, so are not particularly attractive to gay men.

in my experience the only real difference between gay and ordinary bars is u get charged on the door at some gay bars. i dont mind paying a sub if it keeps the idiots out, yet i know some bars do over charge.

gay bars dont smell any different to ordinary bars, lol, what an assumption to make.

I'm not gay, but feel that gay bars are a lot safer that ordinary ones, you're not very likely to get a beer glass in the face, or whatever. And I have met some hot chicks there, as well!!!

I used to be a bouncer at a gay bar. I think most of them are obvious on purpose. In my experience, 98% of the people were just there to drink or to meet a stranger to have sex with that evening and never have contact with again.

I don't go to bars often but I prefer gay bars. I have no gay friends living close by so its the only place I get to be with "family".

They certainly are. Why do gay peole go there. To feel part of a group? We don't have bars for wheelchair users do we? I know the only reason I went to a gay bar was to be picked up or pick up another man. Its all about sex, and the chase.
Think they are all abit seedy.

Normally only the ugly ones feel like that. The rest of us would pick a gay bar over a hogshead anyday. But really, can you blame us?

There are only a couple of gay bars around but there are hordes of straight bars all over. If you are given cupcakes all year, wouldn't you like to try tiramisu?
