In private say

"Well ____, I've been giving this some thought and I don't think things will work out between us. I hope you take good care of yourself."

Don't say:
I hope we can be friends - insincere
I've been giving it a lot of thought - if you haven't
I'm flattered - slap in the face

Dont do in front of a crowd and be blunt. Dont keep going off the subject. I mean which wod u rather 20 min of not knowing if this person is trying to reject u or 2 min of pain.

be honest and offer them your reason/s for the rejection. If you do not have a reason good enough for the other person, they should respect that you have your own personal reasons for a decision anyway.

they may feel the sting, but it's better than being dishonest. and you disregard your own feelings and choose not to reject, you may resent this person in the long run and it would have been your own fault.

just give them a soft smile and say "no thanks" . dont stop as such keep using very nice words and tell them the reason. The way to tell them the reason should make them believe that you are finding it difficult to reject their offer but rejecting their offer.

its often a good practise to tell this seperately to the people who offered you rather than in a crowd where the proposal was made to u.

it depends on what type of rejection your speaking of.. best way is just to politely say your not interested or you have somthing else to do and say no without feeling responsible for their feelings. They are responsible for their own feelings. Being honest is the best key without being mean.

You simply tell them that you have to refuse their offer or proposition. It is best, though, if you're rejecting someone that you do so in the presence of at least one of your friends, so they can witness, and maybe help out if the rejectee gets snippy.

I'm sorry but I don't think that this is the best thing; you are a great person but i don't think things could work out between us because we are too different.

those are the two basics that I know, hope they help

it all depends on how the specific person deals with rejection as to whether or not they will think its nice or not.
