I always have this question in my mind. Me & my bf are an life example. My family is a typical Chinese family in China whereas my bf's is a Christian family, speaking English.

I met him in Singapore during studies and we have been together for 1yr 5 mths..

I scare that next time if we are going to married, how can our parents communicate? My parents only can speak Chinese(my dad knows English though, but Singapore English is quite different from standard English), his parents only speak English(her mother knows a bit Chinese only) and he can speak some Chinese but not that good...

Will our marriage be affected by this?? (i'm 21 this yr, he is 23 next yr)

Love conquers all things, including a language barrier. You could each help your parents to communicate through you. And maybe each side will want to learn the language of the other so that they might communicate without using you or your bf as a go between. If you truly love this man, it will work out.

It really could be a obstacle if either one family refuse to give way. The way they communicate and thinking could also be a disturbing factor. Basically I don't really know how your family thinks but I do understand tt Christian wants their spouse to follow their religion once they get married. So it may have to depends on you if you can convince either your parent or family in your relationship.

I could be a little rough at first but, perhaps they will both learn each others language and it can be a learning experience for all. I don't think it will affect your marriage though. Everyone will just have the great fortune to learn and live another culture besides their own. Congratulations and Best Wishes!!!

I would hire an interpreter for the wedding and on other occasions that will be your job to communicate between them. I think family background can be difficult but if all people r nice and try hard than it can all work out.
