You can't influence someone intentionally... i think if they envy what you are doing with your life then you can influence them unless it's to influence for the bad (like taking drugs or something), that can be done by peer pressure i guess.

You can expand this remark and write books/ thesis on it but the key to influence people is just this: -
"Be nice with them".
No human being in this world will respond in a negative way if treated nicely.
