I want to buy counterstrike but i want to know the best one out there to play online with other peeps.

Counter Strike Source is the latest. Its always updated via Steam.
Steam is a way for them to distribute the game and update everytime you logon.

then create an account, also free
Then, you either buy the games online and they get downloaded or buy them in the shops and enter the serial number. Then updates are downloaded.
Or if like me you own any old valve games like CS, HL, HL Opposing force just enter the serial numbers and they too will be downloaded to your PC and added to your account.
