People who give you this love bite, are making fun of you. They make you look "cheap". A true lover will never give you this bite. Thus, beware!

Love-bites (or hickeys) are a temporary mark or bruise on one's skin resulting from kissing or sucking (not necessarily biting) forcefully enough to burst blood vessels beneath the skin. They could also be called "love-marks","passion marks", "slag tags" or "tramp stamps", since actual biting is usually not involved, but this usage is not widespread.

.....i thought a love bite was when your child bit you. My son gives me "love bites" on my arm when i'm on the comp or watchin the tube and not paying attention to him.
he's too young to say "hey mom, look over here", so he just gives me a little nip. haha.
