I'm going on a road trip to Napa Valley and then I want to go to Eureka. What's the best thing to see there?

Well, if you like fine architecture, then you're in for a treat. There are some awesome Victorian-style homes in Eureka.

Check out this pic of Carson Mansion:

Also, Eureka has a revitalized waterfront on the Humboldt Bay. There are lots of cool used bookstores, boutiques, thrift shops & restaurants around there, too.

The whole Northern California coastline is absolutely stunning, especially the first time you experience it. Go ahead and enjoy the redwoods, then head over toward the coast. Trinidad is a bit further up the road (101), but offers a great little fishing village atmosphere.

If you've got time and enjoy road-tripping, come back down on 101, then cut across to 1 and drive down the Mendocino and Sonoma coast. Stop off in Gualala or Jenner for dinner, then cut across through Guerneville and into the Sonoma wine country.
