What is it that people see to be so wrong about incest?

Okay, I'm sure about half the people answering are merely going to say I'm sick, even though I am just asking a question, so be it.
First of all, for you people who will answer something about the problems involved in reproduction, most of the things you hear are nont true and are myths. If you want, let's just eleminate the reproduction factor all together and merely debate the idea of intercoarse between two related people.
If you are going to answer this question, think about it a little bit and do not say "it's just wrong". Give a reason.

I said most I think... I do understand fully how problems can arize, especially from weaknesses being emphasized. I was referring to the fact that most people seem to think that the result is going to be something that would be classified as a totally different species being born. If you got the idea that I was saying nothing bad could occur from it, then I worded my question badly.

I don't know how many of you noticed, but the point I was trying to bring up is why is there a social taboo on it?

I also find it amusing how very many of you somehow managed to find me in favor of it even though I neither said nor implied anything like that.

I'm tired of being insulted by idiots... Are you unable to read an entire question before you answer? Let me explain my question more. I am not debating the effects of large scale inscest, it would surely over time destroy a species. All I said was that one generation differences are often not as bad as people imagine.
The reason I said to ignore the reproduction factor is that I was not interested in the effects of a society that practiced incest, I am perfectly capable of finding that out myself. What I was interested in was everybodies almost hysterical aversion to the idea of sex (not reproduction) between genetically related people.

Why was I interested in this? Was it, as all you idiots out there said, because I am just a sick and disgusting person, and was planning on practicing it myself? NO. I asked this question because I was interested in how we evolve to move away from practicing incest. As already said, many times before, long term and large scale practice of this would destroy a species, so why are we here? Because we don't practice it! Continued on next detail...

Now, was or species just made with a natural aversion to this idea? I doubt it, especially since it has happened many time throughout history. Rather, we evolved to be the way we are. Now it is probably much more complicated than just the ones who did practice it all died and only the ones that didn't were left. It's almost inevitable that groups such as tribes, nations, and families had a great effect in this. As said by somebody else, if incest was practiced it would creat havoc within families, not the best thing for survival in the harsher environment that humans have existed until the last 50 years or so.

It's not something I would do, but I read in a scientific magazine that it is really not so bad (I believe it was actually "Discover," but I cannot remember for sure which magazine) because it only becomes an issue if both parents carry the same disease or mutation. There are recessive traits which don't always show up noticeably in people, and related people are more likely to have these traits in common and in turn, their children would be more likely to have the undesired trait show up dominantly, not just as a recessive gene. However, according to the article, the chances for that are really not as great as most people expect which is why marrying relatives is allegedly okay (according to the article; not to me!).

Some royalty provides perfect examples of the bad consequences of marrying relatives: the recessive genes actually become more dominant because both parents are more likely to have them. I read in that article that this is what gave marrying relatives such a poor reputation, but it is still not something I would do!

Really, I think it is wrong, and I would not do this. It is socially inacceptable, and there still is the chance to have mutated spawn. There are so many other people to choose from in the world, and I believe that it is best to vary your genetics...just as you would diversify your investments in stocks!

If you eliminate the reproduction part of it, I would have to say what makes it wrong still is that it puts a hitch in the sanctity of family. Your family should be the place you can go to get away from lustful eyes.... if incest were not considered wrong and people wanted to practice such things in their own family, daughters and sons would no longer have a safe haven from all their lustful peers. I mean, after a day of high school boys flirting with me, I just wanted to go home where I could be ignored... I would fear that in a situation where incest was okay, that girl who just wants to go home and relax would then be hit on by her brother or even father... creating an unstable and unsafe atmosphere in the home. Grades would plummet, suicide rates would be on the rise... Everyone needs a break from the constant hormones and crazy of teenage life. Does this make sense?

For those such as cousins and other family members which do not dwell within the home... I would say again that it would create too much awkwardness within the family gatherings. There would be potential for fighting over women or men within the family at Christmas dinner. When things are too close and everything is done as a family, it is bound to create more bickering and stifle within the already stretched family structures.

Ok, I recognize this query is quite historical, however I needed to factor whatever out. I do not realize how individuals do not see this. Healthy household dynamics are an excessively most important aspect in ones growth,intellectual wellness, habits, person and help procedures. When you throw in intercourse, that thoroughly alterations matters and will also be dangerous to your psyche. Things can get bizarre, what when you begin to argue and stuff? Sexual enchantment toward household individuals can propose deep seeded mental issues which were left unaddressed. I'm no longer devout or non secular or brining this up as an ethical problem, however one isn't intended to be with a household member, evolutionarily and genetically talking, whether or not they produce offspring or no longer is inappropriate. Well if you take away the genetic repercussions....and there are problems that develop. Look at the different problems and diseases that were created by the Egyptians and English before the don't marry your cousin rules was put in place.

The royal family is no myth. Thats how a lot of genetic diseases have started. Do some research. People were not created for incest. Also have you seen the movie Deliverance. That would be a good one to watch (but just the beginning with the banjo scene)

Most peoples thought on incest is based on folklore rather that fact. There is not any scientific studies on incest between consenting adults. Most of the time, you will get the answers of "Gross." "You need help, sicko!"...etc.
Most people hate what they don't understand, and they have closed minds. This society is very closed minded, no matter what people tell you.
