yes things will get blown out of proportion...yes there will be rumors...the best way to defeat rumors is not by wat u say, but by how u live otherwise...if u ignore the rumor and live contrary to wat u've been acused of, it will go away
and people do believe everything that's told to them, but that's not just in high school...that's all over the country (especially of voting age)
it'll only affect you if you let it!!!

Usually you will have many of the same friends as a freshman that you had in Jr. High or Middle School. If your friends know the facts they are less likely to believe false stories.
If there are things that you fear people will give you problems about, try to talk them over with an adult. Maybe what concerns you won't be such a big factor now that you are older.
Congrads on making it to high school. Everyone there were freshmen too. The person you really want to impress is YOU.

I guess it depends on the rumor that is being spread. To be honest yest some can ruin the experience. You have the option of setting the mark straight however by giving your version of what ever the story is instead of letting the lies spread out of control. It won't be easy but try to make up for it by being the best student you can be and surpass all the rest.. you'll get through it.. we all have and then we live to talk about it. Best wishes.

I've never encountered problems in high school. I've had little things started by the few people who dislike me but because im nice to most everyone the rumors cant really catch on. I mean im not like the most popular person in the school, dont get me wrong, im as average as average can get, but i've never given anyone a reason to spread something bad about me, so they dont. Also you have to maintain a reputation where most rumors wont be believed. I know a girl who's not exactly the, to say it mildly, purist girl around, but she acts like the most innocent sweetheart around school and dosent go around trying to openly flaunt her sexuality. Because of this very few people know of her other side. So if someone tried to say she was...unpure...then no one would believe them.

It can if you let it... I mean... the best way to deal with rumors is to ignore them... when they get so bad that you can't... its usually a good time to start making up and getting spread the most ridiculous unbelievable rumor about yourself... this way, assuming your school is big enough they won't know you started it, they will assume that all the rumors were just a bunch of BS. Its really funny to start rumors about yourselves with the help of your real friends, good times!

Anyone who tells you that high school doesn't suck is lying through their teeth. There are people who will hate you for no reason and spread lies, and there are people who will hate you based on those lies, and there are people who will make fun of you for your hair or your clothes or your backpack or your friends or even the color of pencil you use.

The best you can do is to find a group of good friends who will stick by you, and ignore the negative people. It's a lot easier when you don't worry about it.

You just have to learn to ignore the people who start the rumors. If you act like you don't care, the rumors will stop. I, for one, have had many rumors spread about me, but it hasn't ruined high school for me at all.

Good Luck, work hard, and have fun!

It can ruin the experience if you allow it to but if you retain your true self and get through it, people will get to know the real you and won't believe those nasty rumors.

yes they can. be careful of what you believe when you hear something, and if its something bad about you, then calmly confront the person. don't let people get the best of you, and trust me they will try. high school is meant to be fun, go to games and dances and just live it up.
