I have a BS in Psych from Fordham university....and I'm unemployed. I almost got a research job but I wasn't bilingual. The job prospects for BS/BA psych majors aren't that great. You might be able to talk your way into marketing if you have a business background as well.

I have a BA in Psychology from UCSB, and a MA in Counseling Psychology with my Marriage and Family Therapy Intern # through the State of California.

With a BA/BS in Psychology, it may be difficult to find work, that is, work that pays the bills. Your best bet is to work in group home / facility services with court dependent youth and/or other non-profit jobs.

Some California counties will hire BA level employees in Social Services, Child Protective Services, and Court service units, but it depends on the county and your history.

My advise, get any experience while to attend college - even if it means unpaid internships. Get the hours and the reference - show the motivation to provide good client services.

Continue with your education - get a graduate degree, it will only open more doors. Many "accredited" universities and colleges will provide night classes (so you can work) and help qualify for loans to pay the way. Make sure you get your education from ONLY schools that sit on the 5 regional accrediting boards i.e. WASC.

Remember,

Set a goal - work toward the goal - reach the goal - ackowledge your success - set another goal...

Follow this pattern, and you will enjoy success ;-)

Goodluck in your future...own your success and your failures...
