I do think that Dean Jones needed to be fired.
As a broadcaster and an ex international cricketer he needs to realise that with these titles comes a certain responsibility to behave in a certain manner.
A racist comment was made (whether he personally believed it or not doesn't really come into it) and he should be held accountable.
I am an Australian and I hope that you do not judge us all by one stupid remark made by someone who does not speak for us all!

By saying that racism is an Australian trait offends me.
You are throwing all of us in the one basket because of the behaviour of a few.
Almost like saying all Muslims are terrorists. Not only is it untrue but it is protaganistic

Dean Jones is not a bad person, but there are responsibilities in his role which he did not heed. There is no place for racism of any kind in any sport. I totally agree with tjrj23. I too am Australian and do not defend my own simply because they are Australian. If they display bad ethics or behaviour I am first to admit that. However, to continually state that racism is a typical trait of Australian culture is offencive and inaccurate and quite racists itself. We have also often been vilified in various ways from other countries. It's a sad but true event that occurs in most sports.

no he deserved the sack. its was a rascist remark and we are trying to kick rascism out of sport. However i am sure what he said to the media was false. its obvious he does not like muslims deep down. however, religion is a personal belief and people should be discrete about it. some muslims try and show of their religion and i dont know why. why does hashim amla need to have a beard. muslims cant say it is their religion, coz prob 1 in every 500 muslims has one. even the king of saudi arabia' king abdulla' who is a devout muslim has not got a long beard.

I think he's like most of us he says's stupid comments without thinking. Name one person who hasn't done that before. It's called a mistake, but in this politically correct world of ours and being a commentator everything is dissected and brought to everyone's else's attention.
