If you're using Internet Explorer, look right above the task bar. You'll see the bottom band of the Internet Explorer page. At the right end you'll see 5 squares next to a little globe with the word "Internet" next to it. Right click on the second square and click on Pop-Up Blocker Settings. Then add popcorn.net to the block list.

First off - Popcorn is a bunch of programs, it's not adware, spyware, a virus or anything like that. As such it can't be removed using adware, spyware, virus removal programs.

How it became installed on your computer is probably a complete mystery to you. In most cases it arrives uninvited and hides on your computer for 3 days after which time it repeatedly pops up and demands payment saying that the 3 days trial has expired and you now have to pay for it.

If no-one agreed to download it then you do not have to pay them anything and you shouldn't pay them anything.

This is a scam which has been going on for several months. It originally appeared as Movieland in December 2005, when Movieland was shut down it reappeared as Moviepass and now it's appeared again as Popcorn.

Don't give Popcorn any money, don't phone the expensive 1-900 number and don't give them any personal details. They will threaten legal action and to impair your credit rating but without your personal details there is nothing they can do and unless someone has actually agreed to have their program on your computer then they are acting illegally.

To date I have helped over 1 million people get rid of Movieland and Moviepass (it's a large scale, worldwide problem) and have created a website with detailed removal instructions. Please visit the website and follow the instructions, they're written for Movieland and Moviepass but apply also to Popcorn - wherever it says Moviepass just substitute the word Popcorn (I'll update the site when time permits).

Good luck in getting this thing out of your computer.

Run antispyware software and antivirus software and see if it helps.

A good antispyware software is Spybot Search and Destroy and an antivirus software is AVG. Both of them are free.

Also, try switching to the Firefox browser.

Why would it just appear? If you mean by email, just block their address.
