Hey I know it was wrong. I don't know why I did it. I was just with her mom talking, and we were having a good time and well one thing led to another. I am so confused I just don't know what to do. Her mom feels bad about it to. She told me though that I can't keep it from my wife, and I have to tell her the truth about what happened. I know I have to tell her. I just don't know how to do it. Can someone please give me some advice on this situation.

I have looked at your profile, and at your other questions, and I refuse to believe you are serious about this. But just in case someone else really does have this problem, I will treat it as if it is serious.
You are out of control. You need to find someone who will take over and help you before that someone is a judge and a prison guard. The whole idea of "to tell or not to tell" is moot: it is clear that your mother-in-law will tell if you do not. So start by telling someone who can help you. A priest, a psychiatrist, or if need be, a lawyer. You are in deep do-do, my dear!
But actually, I think you are just BSing.

That is sick and you deserve everything you get including a divorce which is VERY likely. You stated you didn't know why you did it? Give me a break...you were horny and acted on it. Can you say sabatoge? How long has the mother wanted you gone? She got her wish now and some cheap free sex in the mean time. Your wife deserves a new husband and mother.

If your honest with her and just tell her straight up every thing that happend and she loves you she will forgive you. She might be a little mad or mabey even throw thigns but she loves you and thats why you got married so she will eventually froget about it and or forgive you.Tell her you made a mistake we all do and it was a bad thing to do.
Mabey sugjest marridge counsouling or somethign tell her your sorry and you'll do whatever it takes to make it up to her.
Also buy her something it will help she might get pissed at first but life will sort its self out and everything will fall in to place.

As a friend of mines wife pointed out to me after a night of too much booze and a mistake, confession is only good for YOUR soul. it isn't going to do anybody else any good. (they have been married for many more years subsequently) Your Mother-in-law's take on this makes me think she did this on purpose and wants your wife to find out. She should be freaking out about this worse than you are. The woman could divorce you....... there's no way to get rid of your Mother. NEVER TELL HER!!!!!! And what ever you do...... NEVER!!!! Does her mom have a need to compete with or punish her? Is she ready for the destruction this will cause in the relationship? Are you? You men just can't keep it in your pants. All three of you need to sit down and talk about it. Remove all objects that can be thrown.

Do you love her mother with whom you slept?If yes--you love her then you have to think before acting on it.Suppose your wife will say that you have to cut the relationship with your lover then what shall you do?Can you stay with out her?If yes thenyou can do what you think.There may be two results.may be your wife will allow this lady with you for ever.This depends on the lady and you.What you decide is important.Do you not feel that you have given pain to that lady .The condition of the lady is worst as she cant share her feeling and agony with any one.At least you should not go away from her.

Both of you should tell her. Her mom first should open up, if you both are really sorry you should really mean not doing it. But supposed she will not get angry and may just like it. If her mom is not married anymore and needed sex badly she may understand. If she will not, then both of you should really be sorry and promise it will not happen again.

I don't think she will understand or believe if you told her, so bring her mom and give her a long french kiss in front of her (with your hands on her assss and then divorce your wife before she leave you, just to save face.
