I normally don't remember my dreams, but 90% of the ones I do remember have something to do with someone dying, being killed, or injured badly. They are always very vivid dreams and rather disturbing... so much that I don't want to go back to sleep because I know the dream may keep going, as this has happened many times. Its starting to freak me out.

I don't know if this will help you or not, but think about this: many dreams are our subconscious mind's attempt at processing things we didn't process while we were awake. I'm going to guess that you have either some fears that you are keeping in the back of your mind or that you have had some loss recently and you didn't really get the grief out of your system. The second one is easier to deal with than the first. Remember your loved one, be angry that they are gone, cry. Unresolved fears are much more difficult- usually a matter of feeling responsible for your own safety and accepting the risks in your own life along with being confident about handling dangerous situations. With the world the way it is right now, lots of people are having fear dreams. It will sound incredibly silly, but if you can apply enough love to your life and your world, feelings of fear should diminish.
If that isn't silly enough, saying prayers before bedtime can also really help, but if you do that, focus on the positive.
Lastly, keeping a journal of a few important details might really help. Some dreaming can be food-related. Journaling might help you see a connection between certain kinds of food at dinnertime- or eating too late at night- leading to certain kinds of dreams. Stay cool. You aren't the only one who has ever had bad dreams. It's good that you can talk about it.

Really simple answer to the most baffling question for all humans. The reason these disturbing dreams are remembered is because they scare you to awakenings. All dreams good or bad can be remembered upon awakening..TAKE THIS TEST. Set your alarm clock to 1am then 3 am the 4:45 am, have a note pad and pen, when the alarm goes off you'll awaken from the dream state and you'll remember those dreams immediately..write them down! You'll see you have far more pleasant dreams than bad.

Dreaming of death may mean certian changes are taking place in your life, and your response eg fear and anxiety may be a form of resistance to change. In Tarot, Death is simply rebirth, the ending of one aspect of you and the birth of a new order.
Some also feel recurring dreams of death may have to do with past life memories. If you believe in reincarnation and past lives, you may like to read the works of Brian Weiss.

You may like to meditate or pray before you sleep for peaceful sleep. Amethyst, a purple crystal is very good for sleep, and you may like to keep a cluster or a piece by your pillow at night.

Good Luck

Sometimes we dream of things that are way too far fetched to reality, it's our body's way of keeping sane. I'd say you are probably going through a lot of stress in your everyday life and you probably feel the life being 'sucked out of you.' Your dream is just reinforcing the anxiety and fears that you may have.
