I think I know how your feeling. I do think that you need to be a lot more specific for me to actually help you and not just answer your question.
I went through a lot of just going through the motions when I was younger and it changed one day - one BIG day. Again, feel free to email me if you really want a real answer and feel like giving specifics. thanks

Well, I am not Biblical scholar but I do believe that there is a passage somewhere in Proverbs that states that "Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." And I think that fear of Hell is a step in the right direction. The odd thing is, is that many people who profess to believe in God, also say that they DON'T believe in Hell. But if you choose to be a Christian then you have to believe in Hell. The idea of it is written about in the Bible more than once.
Anyway, before I jump any higher on my soap box, just know this...If you choose to believe, then do your homework. Read the Bible and decide for yourself whether the lessons taught in there are lessons worth learning. If nothing else comes from it, you will have at least learned something about yourself after reading it. Good luck in your search for truth and don't feel bad about being afraid or daunted. That just means that you are exercizing your brain!

You can make yourself believe whatever you want to believe, but that belief alone won't get you into heaven. You've got to do more than just believe in God to go to heaven.
You've got to HEAR, which means you've got to understand, what the gospel, or the good news, of Christ is, which is that He died for your sins, rose on the 3rd day, and is now alive forevermore (1 Corinthians 15:1-9), BELIEVE what you've heard (Hebrews 11:6), REPENT of your sins (Luke 13:1-5), CONFESS Jesus to be the only begotten Son of God (Matthew 10:32-33), and then you must BE BAPTIZED for the remission of your sins (Acts 8:26-40, 22:16).
Now, if you do all of this, and follow Jesus Christ faithfully (Revelations 2:10), promise to put Christ first in your life (Matthew 6:33), be faithful in attending worship services with the Lord's Church, which is called the Church of Christ (Romans 16:16, Hebrews 10:25), share your new-found faith in Christ with others (Matthew 28:19), and remain faithful to Christ unto death, you will enter a heavenly home with Christ upon Judgment Day.

No one in this world is competent to answer that, and those who offer an answer don't know any better.
What I have learned in life is that we should always do things because we know it is the right thing to do, and not because of the fear of a certain penalty if we don't. But In the end it is your decision to make, do whatever feels right and takes you to the path of enlightenment and happiness.

Different people have different motives for believing.
I doubt that the motive one has, for becoming a Christian is relevant.
What is relevant, is whether or not one adheres to the commandments. It isn't just a matter of saying "I Accept Jesus". It also requires that one actually follows His will.

Not at all. God uses a lot of tools to get our attention, so that we will turn to Him. Fear is one of them. In fact, I think that similar feelings motivated me at first. Don't sweat it (that may have been a poor choice of words). I am curious though about the part of your statement in which you say that you make yourself believe. At this point in your walk with Christ you'd be called a "baby-Christian" (a similar term is used in Hebrews to describe members of the first century church so please don't be offended). I really believe that as you seek to learn more about about Jesus and the character of God that your feelings of fear and uncertainty will be replaced with peace and joy. So the next step is to learn more about God, and what His plans are for your life. I have found the following website to be extremely helpful in my growth as a Christian, and I highly recommend it to you - check it out.
God Bless

Well, you really must believe, because if you believe there is a hell, then you believe in God. If you didn't really believe in God you wouldn't be afraid of hell, because you wouldn't believe it existed and therefore you would not have the fear of God sending you to hell. God bless you and have a nice evening!

It sounds like you don't know why you believe in your faith. You need to talk toyour priest, pastor, ect. It is good that you are aware of Hell and wanting to take care of your soul, but God wants you to love him as the Father and for all of his blessings, not because you fear him. That is what I believe, anyways. Please seek your answers, and pray. God will answer.

Yes it is wrong, Because you really don't love the lord and what he does for you. ask him in your heart. But it is good to fear him and fear that you will go to hell. Read this prayer out loud if you want him in your heart dear:
Dear god, I know that my sin has separated me from you. Thank you that jesus christ died in my place. I ask jesus to forgive my sin and to come into my life. Please begin to direct my life. Thank you or giving me eternal life. In jesus' name, amen.
You can express belief and trust in christ through prayer. He knows what a person means even when it is difficult to express.
Best wishes in your discovery.
