If it is one of those flat panel screens, you will need to get a spray bottle of LCD screen cleaner. That seems to work better than everything else. If you have a standard CRT screen with the glass front, windex works fine.

As long as you're relatively gentle its just like any other tv or monitor. A dry, soft, clean cloth works fine.
If your monitor is always on, you may wish to set it to turn off after 30 or so minutes of idle time. Right click on desktop then properties, screen saver tab, power options, set the monitor turnoff time ONLY, and hit ok. This keeps it from being charged up when you're not using it.
Hibernate, system standby, and auto hard disk shutdown NOT recommended.

They should ship the service manual. Call them and ask.
But for maintenance, you are fine with windex and lint free cloth or paper.

Do not use cleaning agents. Go to a computer store and buy a cleaning product made for this purpose or you can make scrathes on the screen.

If you just bought it, call Dell and ask. That way if you screw it up you can blame someone who can do something about it.
