Interesting question. We live in the country with the most severe weather related phenomena. Global warming also creates very extreme weather conditions. An example of this is the recent heat wave. It is possible that winter is going to be colder than usual, perhaps to an extreme. But don't take my word for it, check out the experts at www.weather.gov

Global warming doesn't make the weather only warmer but more extreme, in austria (central europe) where i live we had this year the coldest winter ever, with a permanent layer of snow from late december to late march (which has never been there before) and the hottest july ever, with 16 days 30°Celsius plkus, and now we're having one of the coolest augusts ever, with so much rain that half of the country is underwater. I guess the temperatures next winter aren't easy to predict.

Well, From what I watched on the History channel just the other night, It looks like our days of experiencing a terrible winter are memories of our past. Now if you live anywhere in Europe..
You may have a white Christmas this winter of 2006/07. So Merry Christmas !!.

Usually mother nature balances hherself out with the hot dry summers it use to be that you would have cold snowing winters but with global warming who knows for sure.

Official 90-day forecasts are issued by the Climate Prediction Center based on their schedule (see second link below).

Official forecasts are available further out in time, but forecast skill decreases with time (third link below shows Dec-Jan-Feb).
