Find out what she's interested in, like cats, angels, birds, crosses, etc. I bet you can tell something about her from her room or from her house, and most of the time you can find something like it at Hallmark stores or Gift shops. Ex: My mother-in-law loves cats, so we usually look for something with kitties on it, like stationary, little statues/figurines, or cards and get those.

You could treat her to a day at a spa for a massage. A gift card for a nice restaurant and tickets to a movie theater would also be nice. If she likes to read, a gift card for a bookstore would be nice. Money inside a card is also a good gift, but I don't know what type of personality she has. She might think you put no effort into getting her that gift. If she's into kitchen gadgets, you could get her a new mixer and all the ingredients to make a cake or cookies, wrap them all together with tuille, and put a bow on it. I hope this helped.

A day at the spa is always nice and relaxing. But if she's not into the beauty stuff, be creative. Mother in law's love it when you notice the little things about them. Like something she collects, something she could really use but won't spend the money on herself to buy. Just remember to shop using her taste rather than your own....you can't go wrong. Oh, and if you are really stuck, call your father-in-law for some tips. Inside information is always helpful.

WHAT DOES SHE DO TO RELAX? BUY HER A GOOD BOOK, SOME COFFEE OR TEA, CANDLE AND BATH SALTS. OR MAYBE SOME GARDENING TOOLS. OR INVITE HER TO LUNCH OR DINNER. MY DAUGHTER-IN-LAW ASKED ME TO LUNCH AND THEN TOOK ME FOR A PEDICURE. IT WAS NICE TO SPEND THE DAY WITH HER ALONE. LITTLE THINGS ARE IMPORTANT TO ALL FAMILY MEMBERS. THIS WILL MAKE YOUR HUSBAND HAPPY TO KNOW YOU ARE SPENDING TIME WITH HIS MOTHER.
