Hi there,

There is no proper age to start tanning. Skin cancer if very dangerous, and the best way to avoid it is to stay out of the sun and not get a tan.

There are very good self-tanners (fake tan lotion) on the market that make you tan without the sun. Try one of these! Not only will they make you tan, but you won't age as fast since you'll be staying out of the sun.

And even if you have a fake tan, you still need to wear sunscreen when you are out in the sun. Here's a link below that will give you all the info you need on protecting your skin with sunscreen and finding a good self-tanner.

Good luck, and happy self-tanning!

Hi Rob, There is no official age to start tanning i suppose, but always remember that skin Cancer can be caused to any age group. We here in Australia have a saying.
SLIP, SLOP, SLAP. In other words.Slip on a shirt, Slop on some sunscreen, and Slap on a hat. Australia has one if not the highest sun Cancer rates in the world and even though it may be a cloudy day the Ray's still can get to you.If you are a fair skinned person ALWAYS wear a SHIRT and HAT and use a GOOD quality SUNSCREEN.Remember that the SUN is worse between 11am and 2 pm so take care friend and have a good life.

There isn't a set age for tanning but some things do figure into how often you should tan. Your type of skin for one thing. If you are fair skinned you should avoid the sun and use sunscreen all the time. No one should spend to much time in the sun without protection. A sunburn is a sign that our skin has been damaged and cooked. Skin cancer is not a pretty sight.

Honestly, there is no proper age If you are tanning outside but if you Tan in the beds You must be 16 at some tanning bed places . But, Tanning period is not good for you dear. It doesn't matter if skin cancer runs in the family you can still get it. The more pail your skin is the more healthier it looks. You don't want skin that looks like leather.

to tan what?
I know some guys that like to hunt deer and tan the hides...is that what you are talking about?
If you are talking about your skin... why would you wanna do that? It'll make you look OLD and wrinkly-kinkily and ...tan... Just 'cause it is in to burn your skin up doesn't mean you ever have to.
Tanning ain't proper. The question makes no sense.

Never...have you not heard of UV damage, skin cancer and the hole in the ozone layer?? If you are that desperate, try that spray on tan...but NOT the sun. In Australia, we have a saying...Slip, Slop, Slap...SLIP on a shirt, SLOP on sunscreen and SLAP on a hat. Skin cancer is a big killer here. Tanning is not cool...it is dangerous! Sun beds also have a high level of UV rays. Be careful.
