See i was like 14 turning 15yrs old. it was for my 8th grade graduation present.

What age do you think is way too young for a cell phone? and why?

Ok. I got my cell phone for my 16th birthday...I got it a month before my actual birthday. My parent's got me a cell phone because they decided that having my license and being out by myself requires one in case my car breaks down, or I need something, etc. I think that any age below 16 is too young. If kids below 16 are running around without their parents knowing where they are or anything, that's irresponsible on the parents part. Wherever a child under 16 is, the parent should know and have a way of contacting them without cell phones. The only excuse for getting a cell phone under the age of 16 for me, is if the person has a job that the parents might need to be called to know when to be picked up. I don't see any other reason why someone who can't drive would need one.
But hey, that's just my opinion. LOL!

I was 16. My parents got it for me after they bought me a car, so if I ever had an emergency I could be in contact with them.
I think anyone who isn't in high school yet is too young to have a cell phone.

18. I don't really think middle school or elementary schoolers need cell phones unless it's to call your parents and for emergencies only. I can understand high-schoolers more because of extracurricular activities are more often that middle school or elementary school. Plus, you're more mature to handle a cell phone as a phone and not a toy, and for some teens, they don't go crazy with phone calls.

Anyone younger than 13 is too young my 7 year old has tried getting me to buy him one. no way. he would just lose it. I was about 32 or 33 when I had my first cell phone.

I was 24 and I bought it with my own salary which at that time was exactly the same as the cost of the cell phone !
