If you consider the conflict as a local event, you are right. Who cares if Arabs Muslims kill Arabs Christians, if Hezbollah kill Jews, If Jews and Palestinians kill each other. But, try to see this pattern as a part of big picture. Remember 9-11? Was USA attacked because it supported Israel? NO. Because it is the strong super power nation, that doing good and is a biggest enemy to the spreading Radical Islam terrorist activities. Europe is weak and too liberal to be a problem. Russia is having its own Palestine - Chechnya. China just gains competitive advantage from all the conflicts. India has its Kashmir.
9-11 put the end to the USA illusion that it is far away from war zones, and nothing will happen to Americans. War zone is here. And Israel is the only democratic country on the Middle East. They are fighting there the war for us, drawing terrorist fanatics there. If Israel will be destroyed, guess who will be next?

We'd like nothing better than the Middle East solving its own problems, but unfotunately that would have meant leaving Saddam Hussein in power in Iraq, the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden running around in Afghanistan, while Iran nukes Israel and India and Pakistan go at it with their nukes.

If it weren't for the oil and the millions of dead, I'd say great. But it is for the oil and millions of dead.

This problem will be solved very soon. I'm sure in 10 or 20,000 years this will be a long forgotten memory.

whether they are getting involved or not.. the truth is that Israel cannot distinguish between Hezbollah and civilians in Lebanon - or they are just playing dump and causing problems and harm to Lebanese!

Human Rights Watch said in report released earlier last week that the attacks in so many cases investigated in Lebanon indicates failures! They cannot just be counted as mere accidents and cannot be blamed on wrongful Hezbollah practices.

In so many of those cases, the attacks clearlysuggests war crimes against humanity.

Also -Kenneth Roth, executive director of Human Rights Watch, stated that:

"The pattern of attacks shows the Israeli military’s disturbing disregard for the lives of Lebanese civilians. Our research shows that Israel’s claim that Hezbollah fighters are hiding among civilians does not explain, let alone justify, Israel’s indiscriminate warfare."

No i think we are wasting time in the middle east. the conflicts there have been going on long before us. We only started having problems with them when we started butting our noses in and then leaving when we realized we couldn't handle it.
It would be nice to leave them to solve their own issues but in places like iraq we have done so much damage we really owe it to them to find a way to help them help themselves before we pull out. And in israel well, we should stay out of it, that is one problem no one can solve.

Yea Russia and China dont get involved because they have nothing to get from it... But Why is Us there... One main reason to keep Israel happy. Jews are rich and are important to Us and US must keep them happy.
