A moot point. Every diplomat or statesman has to socialize. I often attend corporate functions where it is almost mandatory to consume various alcoholic drinks. President Nixon on his trip to China had to drink Mao Tai (a strong Chinese Whiskey). Churchill drank a quart of brandy a day. Every State dinner has at least two wines served...not including champagne or after dinner drinks, perhaps of port or brandy.
