I quit recently myself- a year now. I used the patch. Also, I dunno where you live, but in most states, the department of health has smokers' support groups. I live in NY and called ny smokers' quitline, 1-866-NYQUITS. Smoking is prob the most difficult addiction out there, and it takes alot of determination and support. The best advice I can give you, and it may seem counterintuitive to some people, is don't quit suddenly! This is very important. Set a date for yourself a month or so in advance!!
Tell everyone about it, do a countdown every day and start preparing yourself every day by substituting cigarettes for a new "habit" i.e drinking water, etc in places where you routinely light up. For example, if you usually smoke in the morning, wait 5 minutes to smoke and instead go into the bathroom right away. Also, find a good support group, but i know this can be very hard, as most of my friends smoked, and ppl were not helpful. Good Luck. Email me if you wanna chat or need some additional tips. :)

I know it's not easy but for Baby's sake you've got to do it. "It" of course means going cold-turkey, no sops, no aids, nothing else! I don't think that anything else would really work.
I started smoking in school when I was 14, peer pressure and all. I quit cold turkey when I was 42 (it was a do or die scenario). Yes I too had been smoking 2 packs of Winston a day but for the sake of my kids I decided that they needed and would have their Dad by all means. I've never looked back or defaulted since then. Case of mind over matter, I suppose.

Ask your doctor. They might say it's okay to do the "Patch". It also might be covered by your insurance. There's also a pill called Wellbutrin that is helpful in quitting- but it's also prescribed as a mild anti-depressant.
Whatever you do- ask your doctor first. Any type of patch or nicotene gum may raise your blood pressure or hype you up
and could affect your baby if it crosses into the placenta.
It will be worth it in the long run. Good luck to you and your little one!

Gum and a punching bag work
Since you are pregnant shock value might work. That's what got my dad to quit. My mom was 1 month pregnant with me and someone told him about all the horrible things that could happen to a fetus if a pregnant woman inhaled cigarette smoke. He quit on the spot.
Ask someone to tell you all the bad things that could happen to your baby

Do you realize the damage and potential brain injury you are subjecting that fetus to!!! Whoa gal JUST stop ASAP you are consigning that baby to a life or slow learning varying levels of mental retardation or worse !! What century are you living in ???

check with your doc. but smoke away really worked for me, there were hardly any cravings and its all in pill form... no nasty gum.
good luck i know its hard, but its so worth it. i had a nicotine addicted baby and it was awful, she cried all the time and didnt sleep for more than 45 minutes at a time... this went on for the first 3 weeks. wish i had found smoke away b4 that :( good luck and congrats!!!
