How long do you have to wait after getting your regular drivers license? What age do I have to be before I can get my license? I live in New York. One more question. How can I convince my dad to let me drive a motorcycle? Right now I am 14. I have two or more years two convince him. He got rid of his motorcycle because it was dangerous. He hunts. He always says hunting isn't dangerous; it's the hunters that are dangerous. So I thought I may try to use that as part of my argument/debate. I was wondering if there is anything else I could use on my side.

all right iam 14yrs old my self..., so we relate!

first off get a dirtbike & show ur dad u can go fast (on a track) & be safe!
without the proper feeling of a bike (takes years of experience to earn) then ur bike is unsafe!
when i first started riding i had little control..., now iam almost good enough to race..., however their are so many ppl that are better then me so i just wanna fly on my oun!

if u don't wanna waste time on a dirtbike then get a second hand road bike & have ur dad take u to a track until u have a license to ride the bike on the road!
a good bike for tracks are sport bikes!
bikes like the suzuki GXR's & yamahas R1 & R2!
u won't need a license to get on a road track but make sure u have some 1 their to show u how to ride the track!
before each ride on the track..., U Must WALK the track with some1 that know what they are doing!
walking the track is good cause u can see any oil slicks or patches of asphalt that may be dangerous @ high speeds!
or just take a slow ride around the track the first time!

now when u are fimiluar with ur bike & ur dad know u are fast on a track & u start to stop falling..., then is ur chance to spring & tell ur dad that u want to ride around time!
since he has seen u on the track he will know u are a safe rider!
so don't do anything stupid on the track, be safe & smart!

The only reason y motorcycles are dangerous on the road is not the rider or bike its the ppeople in the cars around U!
its not u! its the morons around u in their cars!

when riding on a track be aware of the ppl behind u & the ppl infront of u!
when in ur car with ur father & mother try to talk the "traffic" with them!
when in the car ask ur parents how he tells how the traffic is going to move!
knowing what the traffic will do is importan for motorcycles!
having a car hit u on a motorcycle..., has a high possibility of u losing a a limb!

acctivities like ice-skating will allow u to "predict" traffic!
ice-skating when the rink is most populated is good!
if ur a good skater then Go fast at all times!
ice-skating is like riding cause u have to learn how to use the "edges" of a blade or wheel!
the edges will allow u to have a better "feel" for the road!

anyways if ur dad says that motorcycles are dangerous, all u have to tell him is that..., its not a motorcycles are dangerous it's only the morons in cars around u!
thats y the riding a track is good cause u can prove to him that ur a good rider & that he can trust u!

on the track with a lot of ppl on the track will help u develop ur 6t sence or deathsence!
this is the 6th or ur 10sences!
this is however 1 of the most important of the sences when riding!
this sence may will save ur life..., & help u "read" the traffic!

hopes this helps!
good luck!
have fun!

& fly!

Motorcycle permit 15and a half, written test. M/C licence 16 riding test. Motorcycles are'nt dangerous cars are, or M/C are'nt dangerous asphault is. Kidding aside tell you dad you are less likely to hurt someone else with a bike than a car or truck.

Check with you regional DMV/SoS workplace/internet site and they'll have all the understanding you wish to have. Basically it's very similar to getting a license to force a auto. You have a street experiment and a written experiment and while each are handed, it's an endorsement of the prevailing license. If you presently do not need a license, then they will require you to go tests on each the auto and bike.
