It's gonna get FAR worse I'm affraid: Now with what you just said about that pipe line Imagine if you can Another "Katrina" ok Then add to that Iran and Syria enter the war in the Middle East Further disrupting oil supplies. OK Now add to that a Very Cold Winter in the N Eastern US. It all adds up to an economic disaster the likes of which the US has Never seen. I've heard stories about Gas rationing and Long lines at teh pumps from the 70's oil embargo. This one might make that look like a day at Disney Land.

wether or not the pipeline in Alaska shuts down, the gas prices are goin to get expensive. by the time it gets too expensive too pricy, i'm sure we will have found many other ways of energy for transportation. it's gonna be hard for a while, but scientist are working to find other options.

A lot depends on what Iran decides on 8/22. If they decide to stop enrichment then the price of gasoline will drop despite the problems in Alaska. If Iran decides to go with enrichment then the price of gasoline will spike, but then drop as summer travel season ends.

My opinion is that we will not see gasoline at less than two dollars a gallon again and it probably will go to five dollars a gallon in the next few years.

That affects 8% of the oil in the USA. No, it won't get very expensive at all. Prices at the pump will rise about $0.05 to $0.08 a gallon because of it. That's all. The rest of the price rise is due to other things.

I wouldn't be surprised if it goes to $5 next summer. There is no indication that events in the Middle East will lower the price at all. More likely, it will create higher prices.
