Beastie Boys
"Paul's Boutique" is still one of the best written, best produced, pure examples of 80s hip hop ever made. Combining the NYC bred Beasties with the LA based Dust Brothers (thier first album, by the way) was and still is genius.\

And for anyone to say that Run-DMC "was" rap in the eighties only proves that you didn't listen to rap in the eighties. Kool Moe Dee, BDP, De La Soul, Big Daddy Kane, Slick Rick, Grandmaster Flash...I could go on. The only reason people are saying Run-DMC is because that is the only eighties rap group they know.
