after the brickyard 400 yesterday it doesn't look good. Next week will really start telling the tale of who is in and who is out. I've always liked jeff gordon as a driver-not my favorite but hope he makes it! The chase is better with the big stars in than out.
can you imagine if stewart, gordon , martin , and dale jr. were to all miss the chase??! YIKES!! I guess next year nascar is thinking of expanding it to the top 12 or even 15 drivers for the chase!---that seems a little more fair to me and will keep as many fans really into the chase without it getting to 'watered down" with a huge field! NASCAR IS A GREAT SPORT!

I'm not a big fan of his, but I think he probably will make it this year and not miss the chase. He has done fairly well, except for the last race at Indy. He does have skill, if I like him or not, and I can't deny the fact that his skill will send him into the chase with decent point standings. I certainly think he will be in the chase, and he'll probably end the season in a good finish if he keeps it up.

Well, I hope he makes it. But really, no one is 100% locked in to the chase yet, including jimmie(which is what he said on sunday).
Gordon had some bad luck on Sunday, but he recovered. He should have stayed out on that caution, he would have finished in the top 10.

And for all you haters, Jr sucks, Smoke sucks, Kenseth sucks, and crazy eye Biffle sucks.

you're acceptable about Junior; he's no longer a twenty fourth position driving force, and he receives more effective acceptable this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. regrettably, i won't be able to say that he's between the suited drivers contained in the sequence. 5 years in the past i could absolutely have agreed with you; truly, i could've considered him between the properly 4 drivers contained in the sequence next to Johnson, Gordon, and Stewart; besides the undeniable fact that, i don't believe of he has an similar volume of pastime or dedication to the pastime that he used to. in the present day, i could nonetheless evaluate him a properly 15 or 20 driving force, yet he's were given to get more effective acceptable this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days to persuade me that he's an similar driving force who contended for the championship in '03 and '04. i desire that Junior will do nicely b/c that's reliable for the pastime, and that i appreciate this pastime. To me, those are the properly 12 drivers in NASCAR: Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Carl Edwards, Mark Martin, Kasey Kahne, Kyle Busch, Ryan Newman, Kurt Busch, Denny Hamlin, Matt Kenseth, and Brian Vickers. Drivers who interchange are all 3 RCR drivers, Biffle, Junior, Montoya, Truex, and McMurray. those drivers to me are extremely gifted, yet they income more effective from their kit and the route of their crew chiefs than they do from their expertise. besides the undeniable fact that, i am going to element out this about Junior, Harvick, and McMurray: they couldn't be undesirable drivers because they do ok on the restrictor-plate tracks, which equalize the drivers and make it more effective about skill than kit.

No, I don't think so. He's going to have to fight until the last lap at Richmond, but he's doing pretty well and having some good runs. Look at Sunday.. He was down three laps and came back for a decent finish. Not a great one, but think about what would have happened if he had a great machine.

Yes, he will never regain the prowess he had during his prime and is likely to be a borderline Top 10 driver from now on. However, he does have an excellant shot at breaking the modern wins record.

as much as i dislike j. gordon and want him to fail to make the chase, i think he is most likely going to make the chase.

I think he will make it! I am not a fan, but I wouldn't mind seeing him in it, it will add a little more drama to the chase...and I don't think he will win the cup!
